How Many People Should I Have In My Wedding Party?

Choosing how many people you want to stand beside you is an important part of choosing a wedding party, but even more importantly, you have to choose the right people!

How many?

In general, the guest count relates to the size of the wedding party. If you have only a few guests, go for a smaller wedding party. Similarly, if you have a 300+ person wedding, go for a larger wedding party!

Choose responsible people.

Being involved in a wedding can be chaotic, demanding, emotional, and sometimes dramatic. Make sure anyone you ask to be intimately involved in your wedding festivities is responsible enough to handle the complexities of the day.

Uneven numbers are ok.

Your wedding party should be a reflection of your closest friends & family. If your fiance has a different number of close friends and family, it's ok! Neither of you should have to adjust who you allow into your bridal party just to meet a number.

Give people other jobs.

If you have someone who you want to be involved in your day, but not as a member of your wedding party, give them a job. Ask them to pass out programs, help walk grandma down the aisle, or bring your ceremony decor over to the reception. People want to be involved, so let them!

You can have multiple special people.

If you have two best friends, have two maids of honor, two best men, or two best people. On your wedding day, you make the rules.

Choose people to match the vibe you want.

If you want a fun upbeat party vibe, choose fun-loving people for your wedding party! If you want a calm day, maybe steer away from the friend who wants to twerk down the aisle. The people who stand beside you carry the energy for the day so choose wisely!
